TRANSPLANTING OF SEEDLINGS:


 Transplanting


Lifting the plant carefully from one place and planting it at another place is called transplanting. 

PRECAUTIONS:


Transplant during rainy season or in humid weather. The seedlings of 4 to 5 week old are ready for transplanting (20-25 cm height) Irrigate the soil judiciously before liftng for transplantation. Do not retain seedling in the seed bed for langer time.
PROCEDURE:

 1. Irrigate the seed bed with water. 
2. Select the seedling to be transplanted. 
3. Lift the young seedling with the help of transplanting trowel. 
4. Keep the seedlings in shade and sprinkle the water over the plants. 
5. Take the seedlings to the planting site for transplanting. 
6. Transplant during evening hours or cloudy day. 
7. Plant it in the prepared bed at proper spacing. 
8. Irrigate after transplanting. 
OBSERVATIONS

1) Date of preparation of raised beds. 
2) Size of seed bed prepared (L x Bx H). 
3) The quantity of FYM mixed per bed. 
4) Name of the vegetable/ flower crop and variety of seeds sown. 
5) Date of sowing of seeds. 
6) Quantity of seed sown per bed.
7) Number of days required for germination. 
8) Per cent germination. 
9) Number of days required for seedlings to be ready for transplanting. 
10) Quantity of seedlings per bed (per sq.m.). 
11) Area covered.
